Christ is in our midst!

I said I’d email when we spoke last on the phone-I don’t know how many days ago, but this is my first time on a computer since then -and for some reason I don’t have your email addy on my laptop.

I just wanted to say thank you for the encouragement and prayers! It means more than I can say -the heat plus no sleep plus no family/friends/church can make for a pretty surreal mindset.

I’m deeply grateful for the Jesus Prayer and Angelic Salutation -both short and simple enough (tho not simple at all!!) that in my oatmeal-brained state I can still pray.

Thank you again for your prayers and I’ll certainly keep you and your family in mine.

Lately, the only real frustration of my life seems to be that I am suffering the constrictiveness of another’s communication- or failure to truly communicate in the sense of sharing their being with me and allowing my being to be proven in it. My experience of this- the urgency with which the problem stabs at me- may attest to its central connection with the imago dei itself (all the more lamentable when this error is found in connection with the body of Christ).

St. Francis is often quoted reminding us to preach the Gospel at all times and use words “only” when necessary. This is a good thought but it is also good to remember that he needed words to communicate this thought.

This pegs the experience of the “far-off land” in its vast dimensions. These three words are like a sign post on the freeway into that “distant country”. This is where it all heads. This is from what we return- spoiled by getting our way, tattered by our own reckless passions, and shaking from perplexity and embarrassment. The Lord meets us with His Person, restoring us back beyond ourselves, back within the boundaries of life, back to the security of His love… It seems these three triplets express the whole journey…
